Job Summary:

 

The Security - Loading Dock Officer is responsible for overseeing the secure and efficient operation of loading docks at designated client locations. This position plays a critical role in managing deliveries, monitoring inbound and outbound traffic, and ensuring compliance with security protocols and facility procedures specific to each site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check driver identification, credentials, and vehicle authorization against approved entry lists, permits, or visitor passes.
  • Visually inspect vehicle exteriors for signs of tampering, suspicious modifications, or damage; with consent and in accordance with policy, inspect passenger and cargo areas for prohibited items without handling them unless explicitly authorized.
  • Verify parking privileges by reviewing permits, scanning registration tags, or referencing visitor logs; confirm delivery legitimacy before allowing property removal.
  • Manage traffic flow, operate entry/exit gates, and ensure only authorized personnel, vehicles, and deliveries are permitted in designated areas.
  • Patrol assigned dock zones to deter theft, vandalism, or unauthorized activity, maintaining a visible and professional presence.
  • Welcome individuals entering the premises or loading dock, verify credentials, and provide inspection requirements or relevant instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with building, security, and loading dock rules; address and document any violations.
  • Observe surveillance feeds, respond to alerts, and take appropriate action based on established protocols.
  • Accurately record inspection results, visitor details, incidents, and daily security activities in designated logs or reports.
  • Promptly escalate suspicious activity, policy violations, or security incidents to a supervisor or the Security Operations Center.
  • Follow established emergency procedures, assist with evacuations, and provide support to first responders as needed.
  • Represent the security team with courtesy and professionalism while interacting with employees, tenants, vendors, and visitors.
  • Answer incoming calls related to security or dock operations and relay information to the appropriate personnel.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state-mandated security officer license or ability to obtain one.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in security, preferably with logistics or dock-related responsibilities.
  • Reliable transportation and effective communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and customer service mindset.
  • Ability to write routine reports and complete logs accurately.
  • Familiarity with security systems, access control devices, and safety protocols.

Compensation

Harvard is offering a competitive hourly structure or 23.00 an hour including benefit package with medical, dental, life, and long-term disability (LTD) insurance along with 401K Savings Plan.
